Stardock Estimates Steam has 70 Percent of Digital Market Share

Valve's Steam service has undeniably emerged as the most well-known digital distribution platform for PC games, but just how much of the digital pie do they consume? Gamasutra reports that according to internal estimates from Stardock, publisher of Sins of a Solar Empire and owner of the Impulse distribution service, Steam takes 70 percent of the market share.
With the release of the v6.20 firmware update for the PSP earlier this week, Sony added the new Digital Comics Reader to their handheld. Since the PlayStation Portable's initial launch, it's been a disappointment each time a game supports ad hoc multiplayer but not online multiplayer. Last year, Sony released adhocParty in Japan, a service allowing PSP owners to connect to their PS3s, enabling online play for select PSP games that otherwise only support ad hoc multiplayer.
